Camp Olson is the summer home to more than 35 horses tended to by our knowledgeable and safety-minded Corral Staff. Our 1250+ acres contain miles and miles of scenic trails through forests, fields, hills, and along our beautiful lakes. Horseback campers gain skill and knowledge through hands on training and nurturing counselors who care. The therapeutic effects of working with horses help to instill a sense of calm and respect in participants. At Camp Olson, riders are afforded the opportunity to bond with our gentle horse friends.
Beginner Horseback Riding: Ages 9-11
This program is geared to campers ages 9-11. These campers will spend 3 mornings at the Corral learning the basics of horseback riding with the ability to achieve the trail ride eligible status that is otherwise restricted to campers 11 and up. Afternoons are free to enjoy all of our great programs.
Horseback Riding Camp: Ages 11-15
Riding Camp participants will learn basic riding principles in a sand arena and along our many miles of trails. Camp Olson cowpokes stay in the Riding Cabins next to the corral area, and learn and practice their riding skills each morning. Like all Camp Olson youth programs, afternoons are free for campers to choose any of Camp Olson’s great activities. In addition to getting the general Camp “O” experience, riding campers will learn how to care for and about their horse friends, while gaining self-confidence as they hone their riding skills and work to attain Riding Level Awards.
Wrangler In Training: Ages 15-17
The Wrangler in Training Program takes on two-four campers each session for extensive training with our wonderful Corral staff. WITs will acquire the equine skills and knowledge it takes to work at the Camp Olson Corral and beyond. Space is limited in this advanced riding program so be sure to register now!
